Liverpool's squad is more than capable of challenging for major trophies right now.

The Reds are sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League, and they're also unbeaten in Europe.

However, there are some potential problems on the horizon.

Indeed, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are out of contract next summer, and even if they do sign new deals, they're not getting any younger.

Left-back is also another problem position as Andy Robertson appears to be slowing down slightly.

A long-term left-back successor may be needed, and according to Paul Gorst speaking on the Blood Red Podcast, Rayan Ait-Nouri may be someone Liverpool ultimately end up looking at.

Liverpool could look at Rayan Ait-Nouri

Gorst spoke about Ait-Nouri suggesting that he could be a player Liverpool look at.

Liverpool have been strongly linked to Ait-Nouri recently, and according to Gorst this is a deal that could make a lot of sense.

"There is something at left-back, and it's the one position in the youth setup with Luke Chambers and Owen Beck, where I wonder if they can actually make it at Liverpool," The host said.

"I think Ait-Nouri might be the one Liverpool are looking at in terms of their long-term left-back plans, I've not had that communicated to me, but he's 22, he's fairly young. It seems like Wolves are a good breeding ground to see how a player performs in the Premier League," Gorst replied.

Arsenal also interested in Ait-Nouri

Rayan Ait-Nouri to Liverpool could be on the cards at some point, but the Reds aren't the only team keen on the Algerian.

Indeed, Arsenal have also been linked with a move to Ait-Nouri, while Newcastle are also said to be fans.

In fact, it was reported earlier this year that Arsenal actually made a bid for Ait-Nouri.

Arsenal probably don't need a left-back after signing Riccardo Calafiori, but Newcastle could still do with another full-back option in that position.

Wolves have started this season poorly and currently sit bottom of the Premier League, and perhaps there could be a cut-price deal on the cards for Ait-Nouri for a top club if Gary O'Neil's side can't beat the drop.

Ait-Nouri is a talent, and he could be on the move in the coming months.
