Newcastle have already rejected bid for player – Price fluctuating as club eye transfer

River Plater will need €12-15m to sign Miguel Almirón from Newcastle United, with the Magpies already turning down a €10m bid.

That's according to journalist Maximiliano Benozzi, via Soy del Millo, who says the Argentine giants may have the money to get a deal done.

Almirón has found himself increasingly out of favour at Newcastle under Eddie Howe this season, with Anthony Gordon even starting ahead of him on the right and Jacob Murphy preferred as the back-up.

He's only managed seven appearances in all competitions this season and just 254 minutes in them, leading to speculation he'll be leaving St James Park in the near future.

That could happen in the January transfer window and River Plater appear to be at the front of the queue for him at this moment in time.

A report earlier this week insisted they had made a formal move for the Newcastle winger, with an €18m move potentially on the cards.

That price may be slightly lower according to Benozzi, who says River Plate will need to spend either way as Newcastle have already rejected a €10m bid for the Paraguayan.

"River would have to put up between €12m and €15m to keep Miguel Almirón.  Newcastle recently rejected an offer of €10m," he is quoted as saying on Space Monumental.

Sol del Millo then add that while such a figure would be a 'considerable amount' for the Argentine club, River would be able to afford it and reinforce themselves with Almirón.

Whether that leaves to a move happening remains to be seen but it seems the idea, at least in Argentina, is gaining strength.
