'Newcastle to give Eddie Howe three-year extension' - fans react to England claim

Newcastle fans have called for the club to hand Eddie Howe a new contract following their historic triumph over Liverpool.
Newcastle ended a 70-year wait for silverware with a 2-1 victory in the Carabao Cup final on 16 March, thanks to goals from Dan Burn and Alexander Isak.
Despite a late strike from Federico Chiesa, the Magpies held firm to secure a momentous win at Wembley over Liverpool.
Howe took charge in November 2021, replacing Steve Bruce at a time when the club was battling relegation. Since then, he has transformed Newcastle into a side regularly competing for European football, guiding them to a Champions League finish and now delivering long-awaited silverware.
However, speculation over his future has begun to swirl, with Howe tipped as a potential replacement for Thomas Tuchel at England. Despite his success at St James' Park, questions remain over whether he will be offered a long-term deal to cement his place in Newcastle's future.
With the club's upward trajectory under his leadership, fans are eager for the hierarchy to put any uncertainty to rest and reward Howe for the progress he has overseen—especially after a victory that will be remembered for generations.
Eddie Howe could be in England's plans after Thomas Tuchel
It may seem early to discuss a successor for Tuchel as England manager, given that he has yet to take charge of his first game. However, the German has only signed a short-term contract that runs until the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup, leaving the FA with a long-term decision to make in the coming years.
Tuchel has already faced criticism for his squad selection, with his initial omission of Morgan Gibbs-White drawing backlash before the Nottingham Forest midfielder was later called up following Cole Palmer's injury.
His appointment itself has also been debated, Nicky Butt insisting that Howe should have been given the England job instead of the ex-Chelsea boss.
After the Carabao Cup victory, Howe became the first English manager to guide a team to a major domestic trophy since Harry Redknapp led Portsmouth to FA Cup glory in 2008. His growing reputation has only strengthened calls for him to be considered for the national team job in the future.

Newcastle fans want Eddie Howe statue after Liverpool win
Despite the speculation surrounding his future, Howe remains firmly backed by Newcastle's hierarchy, who view him as a long-term figure at the club.
The 47-year-old signed a five-year contract in 2022, keeping him at St James' Park until 2027. However, Newcastle fans believe he deserves even more.
One supporter declared that Howe has earned a "contract for life" while another claimed he has “eclipsed” club legends Kevin Keegan and Sir Bobby Robson after delivering silverware. Others have taken things even further, calling for a statue to be built in his honour following the historic win over Liverpool.
