Sandro Tonali arrived at Newcastle United from AC Milan in 2023 and was hit with a 10-month ban the following October.

The Italy international has been a regular for the Magpies since serving his suspension. That hasn’t stopped him from being linked with a move back to Serie A even though his agent has dismissed the idea.

On Tuesday, Calciomercato reported Juventus’ interest in the Newcastle player. They even suggested a ‘bomb idea’ of a swap deal involving the 24-year-old and Douglas Luiz.

Journalist Ciro Venerato discussed the possible Tonali-Luiz swap deal during ’90th minuto’ and TV Play have relayed his comments. He claims the Old Lady have offered the Magpies an exchange operation involving the two midfielders.

“Juventus, in dialogue with Newcastle, proposed a mega exchange Tonali-Douglas Luiz, with an adjustment in favour of Newcastle, who however refused,” he said.

Although the operation is financially in favour of Eddie Howe’s side, they have wasted no time before rejecting it. Newcastle United have laughed off the possibility but there’s already claims about a possible attempt in the summer.

The Turin club are keen on signing Newcastle defender Lloyd Kelly in the winter market. If claims from Italy are to be believed, the two clubs have already held talks and it’s likely during these discussions Juve proposed the Tonali-Luiz swap deal to Newcastle.
