Newcastle United now requesting huge €30m clause to part with player this month

Lloyd Kelly joined Newcastle United on a free transfer last summer and has struggled for a prominent role under Eddie Howe this season.
He’s made one league start for the Magpies since the end of September and has three more minutes as substitute from three league games. Juventus are keen on signing him in the winter market.
Earlier today, Sky Italia reported the Serie A side have offered €12-13m while Newcastle are asking €18-20m. The centre-back is on the front page of Monday’s Tuttosport as the Old Lady are showing interest in him.
Another Italian newspaper, Gazzetta dello Sport, provides a fresh take on the Turin club’s desire to sign the defender.
Thiago Motta likes Kelly due to his ability to operate as a centre-back and a fullback and feels he would fit well at Juventus. They have started negotiations with Newcastle, who have made the 26-year-old available in the market.
Gazzetta state the Premier League side are now requesting €30m to let Kelly leave in this window, while Juve have other plans. Their aim is to sign him on loan with a buying option less than the fee demanded by Newcastle.
Kelly is a non-EU player and despite this, Juve can sign him because Gazzetta state ‘the regulation allows the purchase of only one British player in addition to the two non-EU players.’
Juve are unlikely to agree to an obligation to buy as part of the loan deal. If they were to include a €30m buying option, the Italian club wouldn’t really take the amount seriously unless Kelly turned into peak Chiellini.
Gazzetta’s claim is different to what was reported earlier, and it’ll be interesting to see how this case develops.
