Nicolas Jackson sends message to Enzo Fernandez amid rough Chelsea run
Today at 02:30 PM
Nicolas Jackson has posted a message to his Chelsea teammate Enzo Fernandez ahead of their match against Wolves.
23-year-old Jackson wished his teammate a Happy Birthday, three days after they both featured in a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth.
Fernandez was a standout performer against the Cherries, while Jackson’s performance was more of a mixed-bag.
The former Villareal striker registered an assist for Cole Palmer’s goal, but a miss from Jackson caused manager Enzo Maresca to drop to his knees.
Jackson’s indifferent form has been a problem for Chelsea lately, the Blues are on a five-game winless run in the league, and fans now want to see a new striker brought in to lead the line.
Jackson puts criticism behind him to celebrate Chelsea teammate’s Birthday
Despite the criticism he has faced, Jackson doesn’t seem to let it get to him.
For all the flak he has taken, Jackson has still managed to register nine league goals this season and is Chelsea’s second top scorer, behind Palmer.
His relationship with his teammates translates onto the pitch, with Jackson and Palmer’s link-up play being a joy to watch, but his struggles in-front of goal limit his potential.
Mathys Tel has recently been linked with a move to Chelsea from Bayern Munich, and his signing could relegate Jackson from the Blues’ starting line-up.
Jackson posted on his Instagram story wishing Fernandez a Happy Birthday in the Argentine’s native language, saying: “Feliz cumpleaños hermano” which translates to Happy Birthday brother.
Chelsea’s next match sees them take on a struggling Wolves on Monday (20 January).
In other news, Trevoh Chalobah’s loan recall may have hampered a move for Marc Guehi.
