Chelsea have enjoyed a decent start to the season, sitting fourth in the Premier League table and winning both of their Europa Conference League games so far.

The Blues are showing signs of progress under Enzo Maresca and fans will be quietly confident over their team’s top-four hopes this term.

One Chelsea player in particular has shown considerable improvement since last season and Ally McCoist has now sung his praises.

Ally McCoist praises Nicolas Jackson’s improvement at Chelsea

The player in question is Nicolas Jackson, who has registered an impressive six goals and three assists for Chelsea so far this season.

McCoist, speaking on talkSPORT, said he has been noticing an improvement in Jackson, who seems more composed in front of goal this year.

The popular pundit also thinks the 23-year-old can keep improving vastly and feels this will be the case.

"I still think there is a vast improvement in (him), but I am noticing an improvement in Nicolas Jackson, particular his quality of finishing,” said McCoist (5/11/2024, 9:06am).

“He seems to be a little bit more composed this year. I still think that will continue."

McCoist added (9:10am): "I can see an improvement this year.

“He just looks, we all know his terrific assets, he will score goals, but if I was going to be slightly critical last year, I think sometimes he was a little bit rash in his finishing.

“He probably had a split second more to compose himself, and that seems to be improving this year, I think."

Could Jackson feature for Chelsea against Noah?

Chelsea take on Armenian side Noah in the Europa Conference League on Thursday evening.

There’s a good chance Jackson will be rested for the game at Stamford Bridge, with Christopher Nkunku likely to get the nod up front.

Chelsea then face Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Sunday in their last Premier League game before the international break, and Jackson is likely to return to the line-up then.
