Mohamed Salah's Liverpool future remains a key topic of conversation at Anfield.

The Egyptian winger is now into the final six months of his contract, and he's suggested this week that this is indeed his final season at the club.

Salah has suggested that he could be leaving Anfield at the end of the season, but Salah's contract talks are going well behind the scenes, and there's still every chance that he stays on Merseyside.

Speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk Podcast, Dharmesh Sheth has been discussing Salah's future at Liverpool, and he says that he believes that the attacker will indeed stay at Liverpool.

Indeed, the journalist says that he thinks Salah will stay with the Reds, claiming that he has this theory because there has been absolutely no noise about other clubs looking to sign Salah despite his contract situation.

Why Dharmesh Sheth thinks Mohamed Salah is staying at Liverpool

Sheth shared his theory about Salah's situation.

The journalist says that he's not hearing anything at all about any other clubs trying to sign Salah, and that leaves him to believe that the winger is staying at the club.

"The one thing that keeps leading me to believe that Mohamed Salah will be staying at Liverpool and it will eventually get resolved is because, as you mentioned there at the top, Pete, he’s free to talk to clubs outside England ahead of a pre-contract agreement. I haven’t really heard of any clubs that have gone to Liverpool, whether they’ve kept it really quiet. There hasn’t been any noises about it, about we want to bring in Mohamed Salah, we want to sign Mohamed Salah now or sign him on a pre-contract agreement," Sheth said.

"Is that because, one, they’re not interested, which I probably couldn’t believe in a million years, or is the message that these clubs are getting is, no, he’s going to end up staying at Liverpool. That seems to be what I feel the mood music is like. But then again, you can take it on face value as well.

"And if you believe everything that Mohamed Salah is saying just now, it’s clear that the contract hasn’t been agreed because there’s been no announcement. And he is saying that it is last year, his last few months at the club, because there hasn’t been an agreement. There can still, of course, be that agreement.

"And it’s not like it’s affecting him at all, is it? I mean, he’s been absolutely sensational for Liverpool this season, seems to be spearheading them towards a Premier League title, their second in what, their first one since 2020, and then what, the second one in what, 35 odd years or so. So I just think that that is what I’m getting from all of this messaging.

"It’s almost like saying to Liverpool, get a move on, and it’s encouraging the fans, isn’t it, as well? You’ll see it all over social media. I know they’ll just say, just give him what he wants, look how well he’s playing.

"Liverpool can’t just give him what he wants, because there is other issues that they have to deal with as well, not least what they’d have to pay other players who would be coming towards the end of their contract as well. But clearly we haven’t heard the last of it, but clearly it’s not affecting his form."

Why hasn't Mohamed Salah signed a new contract?

Sheth believes Salah will stay at Liverpool, but, as of now, that key contract remains unsigned.

So, the big question is, why hasn't Salah signed a new deal with Liverpool?

At one point, Salah wanted a three-year deal, and that was a stumbling block as Liverpool didn't want to give a long-term contract to a player in his 30s.

However, Salah is open to a one-year deal now according to some reports, but, even with that stance, Liverpool haven't managed to secure their star man's future.

This is a very peculiar situation as both parties clearly want to reach a solution, but, as of yet, this impasse hasn't been overcome.

As Sheth says, it still looks like Salah will stay at this point, but the longer this situation drags on, the more anxiety will grow around Anfield.

Fingers crossed there's some sort of positive solution on this front sooner rather than later.
