'Outstanding': Tim Sherwood says £60m Newcastle player should be at Arsenal right now

Arsenal lost 1-0 to Newcastle on Saturday, and the difference-maker in the game was, once again, Alexander Isak.

The striker powered home a header early on to secure the win for Newcastle, and this is far from the first time that Isak has been decisive in a big game for the Magpies.

Ironically, the Newcastle star scored against the north London club not long after Isak was linked with a move to Arsenal.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Tim Sherwood has been discussing Isak's performance here, and the pundit reckons that the attacker should be an Arsenal player as he believes he's perfect for the Gunners.

Alexander Isak should be an Arsenal player

Sherwood spoke highly of Isak and his performance in this game.

Sherwood says that Isak should be in an Arsenal shirt right now, proclaiming that he's just the type of player Mikel Arteta's side are lacking.

"An outstanding header from a player who should be in an Arsenal shirt in my opinion, a great striker, he's exactly what they need. He not only can play as a nine, he can play on the shoulder and scored different types of goals. He can join in, he's flexible, he can bring others into play. He's exactly what Arsenal need, but very difficult to take him away from Newcastle," Sherwood said.

How do Arsenal view Isak?

Alexander Isak would be a fantastic signing for Arsenal, and this is a deal that could be possible.

Newcastle are trying to get the £60m man to sign a new deal, but Arsenal are big admirers of the Swede.

Isak is apparently a dream target for Mikel Arteta, and while he would be expensive, we've seen Arsenal push the boat out on their key targets in the past.

This deal probably isn't likely to happen in January. After all big-money intra-Premier League deals very rarely do happen in the winter, but this could be one to keep an eye on next summer.

Isak may look to leave Newcastle if they don't qualify for Europe this season, and if he does decide to depart, Arsenal may be there waiting in the wings.

This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on as Arsenal continue their search for a new striker.
