Liverpool quickly made amends for their shock Premier League defeat last weekend by triumphing in their Champions League opener on Tuesday night.

Arne Slot’s Reds got off to a brilliant start in the league prior to the international break but were brought back down to earth by a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest at Anfield.

Indeed, Liverpool fans were expecting more of the same when AC Milan took the lead against the Anfield side at San Siro.

However, the Reds rallied round to go 2-1 up by half-time before adding a further goal in the second half for a routine-looking final score of 3-1.

Christian Pulisic opened the scoring for the hosts within the first three minutes, but free headers from Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk turned the game around.

Then, Dominik Szoboszlai added a third in the 67th minute to leave Milan in the dust as Liverpool left Italy with all three points.

After the game, Rossoneri boss Paulo Fonseca admitted that Liverpool had some players who were hard to deal with, singling one out for praise.

Paulo Fonseca admits Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah was hard for Milan to deal with

The Liverpool player in question is Mohamed Salah, who was a constant thorn in Milan’s side and hit the woodwork twice.

Despite being unfortunate not to get a goal or assist, the Reds forward was a huge threat throughout, and Fonseca admitted his side struggled to cope with him.

"We still make too many mistakes," Fonseca said in quotes reported by Redmen TV on YouTube.

"In the one-against-one, in the individual game, and in other phases, we have had a very bad time.

"Especially trying to tackle Salah, trying to limit his movements. Salah and other players are the most difficult players to (stop)."

The Liverpool Echo gave Salah 7 out of 10 for his efforts on the night.

‘Unlucky to see not one but two efforts hit the bar and bounce to safety,’ they wrote.

‘Was always a threat out on that right-hand side and grew into the game. Caused so many problems for Milan first period in particular.’

Meanwhile, Liverpool World gave Salah a 6 out of 10 rating against Milan.

‘Having hit the bar twice in the first half, he was unlucky not to add to his season's tally,’ they wrote.
