Brentford defender Sepp van den Berg has admitted it was Liverpool's high demands for him that stopped him joining PSV Eindhoven this summer.

The defender returned to Liverpool following a successful loan spell at FSV Mainz last season in which he bounced back from an injury hit loan at Schalke.
It Was initially believed that he would be kept on board by Arne Slot, who wanted to run the rule on the Dutch defender before deciding on his future.
He eventually left Liverpool in a €23.6m deal and joined Brentford, who moved towards the end of the window in what was very much a surprise transfer.
That surprise was largely based on the fact that PSV Eindhoven had been chasing the defender for weeks and negotiating with Liverpool to bring down their asking price.
All signs pointed to the defender heading back to his homeland, but he instead went to London to join Brentford. That, according to him, was because of Liverpool's asking price.
“I can be honest, it’s been serious,” he said.
“I had a good conversation with Peter Bosz. Live, one on one and I liked that. He did too, I think.
“We all know that the English pound is king in football. The price tag that Liverpool hung on me was simply too high. Also, for the German clubs, where I could see myself playing.
“Given the whole picture, it was best to stay in England. And that’s what I did. But PSV was an option, and I really considered that.”
