Brian Brobbey is open to joining West Ham United this month, but the finances of a deal with Ajax are difficult for the Hammers.
That's according to De Telegraaf, relayed by Voetbal Primeur, who report that the striker's struggles under Francesco Farioli have opened the door for West Ham.
They report that West Ham have contacted Brobbey's management with a message that they want him this month. They are prepared to pay to get him.
There is no agreement with the striker yet, but they have offered him a salary of more than €100,000 a week.
If Brobbey agrees to this, West Ham will turn to Ajax. The striker is open to a move to the London Stadium partly because he has been struggling to get used to Farioli's system.
West Ham had initially targeted a loan deal but that was deemed 'hopeless'. Ajax instead want €30m plus 'easily achievable' bonuses of €5m. That is difficult for West Ham to pay because of Financial Fair Play rules. A solution is being sought that suits both parties.
The Hammers face competition as Marseille have already seen a €25m bid rejected and Tottenham, Everton and Eintracht Frankfurt have shown interest too.
