Arsenal came seconds away from a famous win at the Etihad Stadium as Manchester City scored in the final moments of the match to draw 2-2.

The north London side held on for most of the second half with ten-men after Leonardo Trossard’s dismissal before half-time having gone 2-1 up through Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhaes, with John Stones tying the game up in the 98th minute.

A game that will have big ramifications on the Premier League title race, Arsenal showed their credentials in a big way having come so close to a first win in the blue half of Manchester in over a decade, with Trossard’s sending off the turning point.

And City manager Pep Guardiola was left fuming after one moment from an Arsenal star during the match.

Guardiola seen kicking his chair after Calafiori’s equaliser

As per BBC Sport journalist Simon Stone, Guardiola was left ‘raging’ by Calafiori’s equalising goal for Arsenal, with the City manager seen kicking his own seat in anger, with the Catalan coach also shouting at the fourth official.

The Italian international leveled the game up with a bolt from the blue on his first-ever start for Arsenal since joining this summer from Bologna for £42m, with Calafiori giving a great account for himself in his first full appearance for the Gunners.

Although the defender was forced off in the second half due to injury, Calafori’s goal was quite the spectacle for Arsenal fans, and one that left Guardiola absolutely furious on the touchline in the second half.

Indeed, Guardiola’s reaction was quite a surprise for many fans and pundits watching the game, and given how close Arsenal came to winning the game, the City boss can be forgiven for reacting the way he did to Calafiori’s sensational goal.

Calafiori already looks like a top signing for Arsenal

Operating at left-back in his first professional start for Arsenal, Calafiori gave a great account of himself at the back for the Gunners having scored a sensational goal and playing a key the defence looking tight for Mikel Arteta’s side.

The Italian international introduced himself to the world this summer at Euro 2024 with a number of good performances for the Azzurri in central defence, and today showed why Calafiori could become a top signing for Arsenal in the years to come.

Able to play numerous positions and to bomb up the pitch with ease, Calafiori was impressive in what will be Arsenal’s hardest away game in the Premier League this season, and the former Serie A star will hope to reclaim his starting XI position next weekend against Leicester City.
