Rangers takeover: '49ers deal is brilliant - look at Leeds'

Rangers have been subject to takeover talks as Leeds United owners 49ers Enterprises close in on their purchase of the club.
Their ongoing financial difficulties have been a growing concern in recent months, but there is now a growing reason for the Ibrox crowd to be optimistic.
After what has been a disappointing season on the pitch, there is now a belief that a structured plan will allow them to become more competitive.
Former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider that the prospective new owners will be ideal for Rangers after what they have done at Elland Road.
49ers Enterprises came in following Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League and managed to steady the ship, avoid freefall, and put them on course from promotion back to the top tier.
It is that steady and calculated investment into the club as a whole that has made the group the perfect investors at Ibrox as they look to bring in a new era.
Rangers to benefit from 49ers Enterprises’ Leeds experience
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson told Football Insider that 49ers Enterprises’ investment in Rangers is likely to be completed at the end of the current season.
Following that takeover, Football Insider revealed Rangers could be backed with a £20-25million budget to invest in the summer transfer window.
Now, speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Robinson has explained that the 49ers’ experience with Leeds and knowledge across a number of sports has put them in a strong position to make a difference at Ibrox.
“It’s a rebuild from the ground up at Rangers,” he told Football Insider.
“Look at what the 49ers have done at Leeds.
“It’s been a very steady, sensible investment but there’s been more financial investment from Red Bull.
“They can bring in their business expertise, not just in football but in all sports, and the nous that brings to the boardroom.
“I don’t think Rangers could have had a better investor in all honestly.
“There’s somebody coming in with 49ers who will rebuild the club from the bottom up, and it will be structurally sound with the correct investment in the right places.”
49ers Enterprises leading new manager search at Ibrox
A key issue 49ers Enterprises will have to deal with upon their purchase of the club is the managerial situation, following Philippe Clement’s departure.
A number of candidates including the likes of Steven Gerrard, Rafa Benitez and Barry Ferguson have been linked with the role.
Football Insider revealed on 17 March that Ferguson is a candidate for the Rangers job on a long-term basis and has put himself in a strong position.
However, Robinson told Football Insider on 23 March that 49ers will take their time to appoint a new manager at Rangers after what they did with Daniel Farke.
