Arsenal have been as solid as ever in the Premier League this season.

The Gunners are unbeaten so far in 2024/25, and a lot of their good fortune can be attributed to the goalscoring exploits of Kai Havertz.

The German is on a record run of seven home games scored in a row, and he's looking sharper than ever at the moment.

However, it wasn't always like this for Havertz at Arsenal.

Cast your mind back 12 months, and Havertz was struggling, the attacker was a real scapegoat at the Emirates, and he had to be given a penalty just to get off the mark in terms of goals for the Gunners.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Glenn Murray has been discussing Havertz's rise, and he says that Mikel Arteta pulled off a masterstroke when signing the German.

Murray says that Havertz's position still isn't clear as he's an awkward and unorthodox player, but he's incredibly effective at confusing defenders and leaving them uncertain.

Glenn Murray praises Kai Havertz

Murray spoke incredibly highly of Havertz.

The pundit says that the attacker is a really awkward player who doesn't quite look right at times, but that makes him all the more effective as defenders simply can't figure out how to handle him.

"Yes, I think it was a transfer shrouded in mystery to an extent, where is he going to fit? But his unorthodox style is starting to really flourish at Arsenal," Murray said.

"He's not a nine, he's not a 10, he's really awkward, but he crashes the box well and he's starting to get comfortable at Arsenal now.

"I think he's one of those players, we don't know what he is, and his teammates didn't quite know what he was. I think it was a masterstroke from Arteta. Defenders aren't sure with him, he's an awkward player."

Havertz could change position

Havertz has been very good for Arsenal as a central striker in recnet times, but a position change could again be on the cards.

Havertz was originally brought to Arsenal as midfield player, and he could return to that role soon.

Indeed, Havertz has been training in the number 10 role as of late as Arsenal look to find a solution in the absence of Martin Odegaard.

Havertz is apparently a very hard worker in training, so he could get a start in that number 10 role.

Gabriel Jesus could then be set to start up front. However, Jesus' form recently has led to calls for the Brazilian to be dropped.

Mikel Arteta has had great success with Havertz up front, and this may be a classic case of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.

Arteta is never scared to experiment with his team though, so don't be shocked if Havertz does start as an advanced midfield player this weekend.
