Arsenal’s season has hit a snag in recent weeks due to a combination of injuries, disciplinary issues and them simply not being at their best.

The Gunners find themselves four points behind league leaders Liverpool and prepare to host the Reds at the Emirates Stadium in what has quickly become a must-win game.

Mikel Arteta’s side are one bad result away from a bit of a crisis and need to turn things around quickly to sustain their Premier League challenge.

However, it appears as if they have another problem brewing behind the scenes as one of their most experienced players has grown disgruntled with his lack of game time this season.

Gabriel Jesus has played just 89 minutes of Premier League football this season and has fallen down the pecking order since the start of last season.

The Brazilian found himself on the bench against Bournemouth last weekend despite Bukayo Saka’s absence, with Raheem Sterling starting in place of the Englishman.

According to Give Me Sport, Jesus is expected to hold ‘internal discussions’ with the Arsenal hierarchy about his future and is considering leaving as he wants to feature regularly.

Arteta is believed to have faith in the 27-year-old, but he simply hasn’t had enough game time this season, which has prompted him to explore his options.

What next for Gabriel Jesus?

Jesus is yet to score in six Premier League appearances this season and notched up just four goals in the league during the 2023-24 campaign, which simply isn’t good enough for a side competing for the title.

The 27-year-old earns £265,000-per-week and hasn’t delivered consistently enough to justify such an enormous pay, so his long-term future definitely hangs in the balance.

Ian Wright urged Arsenal fans to keep faith in Jesus amid his struggles, but the fact of the matter is that the Gunners could do well with a striker who can score goals regularly.

Benjamin Sesko has keen admirers at the Emirates Stadium, while Viktor Gyokeres has also been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in recent months.

Time will tell if Jesus stays or leaves, but the Gunners won’t be short of options if they have to dip into the market for a quality replacement.
