The transfer window has only just closed, but Arsenal already have eyes on what they could do next summer.

Indeed, the Gunners do still have some gaps to fill in their squad next summer.

Mikel Arteta's side still need a new striker, which is why Arsenal have been strongly linked to Benjamin Sesko, but there are a couple of other problem positions that could prove to be an issue next summer.

Indeed, with Raheem Sterling and Neto only at the club on season-long loans, Arsenal will have to re-address their wide areas and goalkeeping positions next summer.

Arsenal have been linked with Antoine Semenyo as a new winger, and now, they're looking at a new goalkeeper.

Arsenal interested in Alex Meret

According to Football Transfers, Arsenal are interested in signing Alex Meret from Napoli.

The Italian has been starring for the Serie A side for a long while now, and Arsenal have an eye on signing him.

Arsenal were initially keen on signing Espanyol's Joan Garcia, but now, Meret is a top target.

Of course, David Raya is Arsenal's number one goalkeeper, so convincing Meret to join to play second-fiddle won't be a straightforward task.

Interestingly, this isn't the first time Meret has been linked with a move to north London.

Tottenham wanted to sign Alex Meret

Arsenal may be keen on signing Meret right now, but this time last year, it was Tottenham who were interested in signing Meret.

Spurs were very keen on the Italian as Fabio Paratici continued to consult on new signings.

Of course, Meret is now managed by former Spurs manager, Antonio Conte, but Arsenal could prove to be a thorn in Conte's side as Arsenal look to sign Meret.

Unfortunately for Arsenal, dealing with Napoli seriously really isn't easy. Aurelio De Laurentis is one of the toughest negotiators in football and he won't let his goalkeeper go if the deal isn't right.

Whether or not Arsenal can get this deal over the line remains to be seen, but this is certainly a situation to keep an eye on as we head into next summer.
