Report: Liverpool have identified Virgil van Dijk's replacement and he will cost £25m

The future of Virgil van Dijk is up in the air, and while Liverpool fans would love to see the defender stay, it seems that Fenway Sports Group (FSG) are already planning for the prospect of the Netherlands international leaving Anfield.
Liverpool are doing extremely well at the moment and are at the top of the Premier League table.
While you would expect Manchester City to recover from their mini-slump, Arne Slot's side are not showing any signs of slowing down. Jamie Redknapp thinks that Liverpool are now the Premier League title favourites.
However, as big clubs do, Liverpool are thinking about the future with Van Dijk out of contract at the end of the season.
Liverpool eye Jorrel Hato as Virgil van Dijk replacement
According to TuttoJuve, Liverpool are competing with Juventus for the signing of Jorrel Hato from Ajax.
The report in the Italian media outlet has claimed that Liverpool have identified Hato as a replacement for Van Dijk.
Hato is "destined for a transfer", claims TuttoJuve, adding that he will cost €30 million (£25 million). It is too much to pay for Juventus.
The 18-year-old Netherlands international can play as a centre-back or as a left-back.
Hato has scored two goals and given four assists in nine Eredivisie starts this season and scored one goal and provided two assists in 33 league matches in the 2023-24 campaign.
Arsenal also linked with Jorrel Hato
Liverpool are not the only club in the Premier League who are monitoring Hato. Arsenal have also been linked with the Dutch teenager.
The Athletic reported in September that Hato's name keeps cropping up during Arsenal transfer meetings.
Arsenal are not exactly in dire need of a new defender. After all, the Gunners signed Riccardo Calafiori only in the summer of 2024.
Like Hato, Calafiori can play as a centre-back or as a left-back and is only 22.
