Report: Liverpool now want £20m for 'outstanding' midfielder, RB Leipzig are interested

Liverpool have been the quietest team in the Premier League this summer when it comes to transfers, yet that could be about to change.

Arne Slot has impressed this pre-season with the Reds winning all three of their friendlies in the United States, with Liverpool legend Phil Thompson impressed with Fabio Carvalho and Sepp van den Berg’s performances.

With Liverpool looking to open talks for Martin Zubimendi, it appears that the Reds could finally be about to make their first play in the transfer market, with a midfielder clearly on the agenda for the Anfield side this month.

And Liverpool have now set their asking price for a similar player to leave this summer.

Liverpool set £20m asking price for Tyler Morton amid RB Leipzig interest

According to the Times, Liverpool are ready to sell Tyler Morton this summer for £20m in order to raise funds for a move for Zubimendi, with RB Leipzig interested in signing the 21-year-old midfielder.

With Jamie Carragher once hailing Morton as ‘outstanding’ via the Metro, the England youth international could feel ready to leave Liverpool for good this summer if an offer was to come in from a big club like Leipzig.

Indeed, Morton has failed to really crack into Liverpool’s senior squad despite a number of appearances under Jurgen Klopp in recent seasons, with the midfielder also featuring for Slot in pre-season in the United States.

And if a team like Leipzig were to come in with a bid this summer, Morton could be tempted to make the move away from Anfield, with Liverpool seemingly open to recouping some good money for the youngster.

Morton should be pushing for permanent exit this summer

Morton has shown over the past two seasons out on loan with Blackburn Rovers and Hull City that he is more than ready for regular playing time in a major league, and this summer could provide just that.

The Wallasey-born midfielder is one of the most exciting prospects to come out of Liverpool’s academy in some time, yet with the Reds open to selling Morton, the midfielder needs to ensure he secures a move to a big club where he can be a regular.

Morton has shown that he has the talent to become a top player in the future, and this summer could prove to be the window the 21-year-old needs to find a new home for himself in order to develop into an outstanding performer.
