Newcastle United have started the new season in top form with three wins from four, yet injuries are once again playing their part.

Callum Wilson is out until the October international break with Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles and Lewis Miley also all on the treatment table with long-term injuries as Eddie Howe looks to manage with who he has available.

Whilst the injury problems this season are yet to hit the heights of last year’s disaster, the new campaign hasn’t been helpful for Newcastle in regards to players being out with fitness issues even after their strong start.

And Newcastle could now be without another key player for this weekend’s trip to Fulham.

Alexander Isak a doubt for Newcastle after picking up new injury

According to the Daily Mail, Alexander Isak is now a doubt for Newcastle’s visit of Craven Cottage on the weekend after the Swedish international picked up a toe injury during the week having already suffered an eye problem in last weekend’s win against Wolves.

Recently hailed by Pat Nevin as ‘phenomenal’, Isak has once again impressed this season with a goal and an assist in four Premier League games for Newcastle, with the striker breaking the 20 goal barrier last year in the English top-flight.

And although Isak’s latest injury doesn’t sound too bad, the striker missing this weekend’s trip to west London could be a major blow for Newcastle, especially with Wilson also out, leaving the Magpies light in the attacking department.

Indeed, Newcastle still have the likes of Anthony Gordon and Miguel Almiron to call upon in the front-line, yet with Isak now potentially out, Saturday’s game against Fulham could be a hard one for the Magpies if they start the fixture poorly.

Newcastle will hope Isak returns as soon as possible

Isak is one of Newcastle’s most important players and is a striker that is rightly regarded as one of the best in the Premier League, with Arsenal interested in the former Real Sociedad superstar.

And with Isak potentially out for this weekend, Newcastle fans will hope the Swedish international is back as soon as possible, with the 24-year-old attacker a key piece for Howe in how the English coach likes to set up.

One game without Isak is manageable for Newcastle this weekend against Fulham, yet any more matches out could become a serious problem for the Magpies, who will want their star forward back as soon as possible.
