Ruben Amorim is the new Manchester United boss, and with that, United will begin to implement some new ideas.

United are likely to shift into a 3-4-3 formation from now on, and, much like Erik ten Hag before him, Amorim may look to sign some of his most trusted lieutenants.

Indeed, Ten Hag had a tendency to sign former Ajax players at Manchester United.

Amorim hasn't even taken charge of a game yet, and some of his Sporting players are already being linked with United.

Viktor Gyokeres is apparently a target for Amorim, while Marcus Edwards is also being linked with a move to United.

Now, another former Sporting player is starting to think that a move to Old Trafford could be on the cards.

Pedro Porro starting to ponder Manchester United move

According to Spanish outlet, AS, people close to Pedro Porro are starting to believe that Manchester United could make a move for the Tottenham defender.

The Spaniard was a key player for Amorim's Sporting team before his £39m move to Tottenham back in 2023.

Amorim loves to utilise attacking wing-backs in his teams, and Porro is a great fit for that role down the right side.

Of course, United already have Diogo Dalot who is capable of playing that role, but Amorim may decide to bring in a more trusted option in the shape of Porro.

Porro's agents believe that Amorim could make a move for the defender in the coming months, and it's not hard to understand why.

Indeed, Porro was one of the crown jewels of Amorim's Sporting team that won the Portuguese title in 2022, and the stats show just how good Porro was under Amorim.

League games only

Porro's record under Amorim at Sporting is, quite frankly, ridiculous.

He lost just four league games in 68 appearances, while he picked up goals and assists at a rate that is fantastic for a defender.

Porro would be a very smart signing for Amorim at Manchester United, but, of course, whether or not a deal can be done is another matter.

Manchester United and Tottenham have a strained relationship after two sour deals years ago involving Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov, so Daniel Levy won't be keen to sell Porro to United if an approach is indeed made.
