Report: Spurs in talks with agents of winger deemed better than Gabriel Martinelli last year over January move
Today at 01:15 PM
Tottenham Hotspur have had an up-and-down season so far, showing they have what it takes to beat anyone on their day, but lacking consistency.
For instance, Spurs have been able to get emphatic wins over the likes of Manchester United and Aston Villa, and also beat Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.
However, Tottenham have also delivered some dismal displays in defeats against the likes of Brighton and Crystal Palace, and they weren’t great against Galatasaray in midweek.
Now, with the January transfer window on the horizon, Spurs will have the chance to bring in some much-needed reinforcements.
And according to FootballTransfers, Tottenham are now in talks over a player who has been deemed ‘one of the Premier League’s finest midfield technicians’.

Tottenham in talks over Manchester City winger Jack Grealish
The player in question is Manchester City’sJack Grealish and, according to the report, Spurs have been in touch with his representatives over a potential January move to N17.
The report claims that Tottenham sporting director Johan Lange came very close to signing the 29-year-old winger over the summer.
Now, Spurs are apparently back in contact with Grealish's representatives to discuss his current situation and a potential move to Spurs.
FT also claimed Grealish was ‘especially appreciative’ of how Lange handled the player’s move from Aston Villa to Man City when both were at B6, and the two continue to have a good working relationship.
Tottenham reportedly consider Grealish a versatile option to cover for Son Heung-min on the left and for James Maddison in midfield – he could strengthen both positions, potentially saving the club money.
Grealish’s present situation at Man City amid Tottenham links
Grealish moved to Man City from Aston Villa in a £100million move in August 2021, and he has made 135 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side, registering 14 goals and 20 assists.
Man City describe him on their official website as ‘one of the Premier League’s finest midfield technicians’.
Grealish helped his club make history in 2023 as they won the treble, and that summer, ESPN ranked him at No. 3 in their list of the best wingers in the world, ahead of Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli.
However, Grealish has struggled for game time this season, clocking up just 539 minutes of game time split between 10 appearances, and has just two assists – and no goals – to his name.
The Man City man is in the England squad for their upcoming Nations League games against Greece and the Republic of Ireland.
However, Pep Guardiola told reporters on Friday that Grealish is not fit for this weekend’s Premier League meeting with Brighton.
