Report: 'Unbelievable' player is now 'increasingly close' to leaving Tottenham and joining Champions League club

The transfer saga surrounding one Tottenham Hotspur player may finally be about to come to an end.

Spurs are currently in Japan on their pre-season tour. They will face Vissel Kobe early on Saturday morning before flying to South Korea for a game against K-League XI.

Tottenham have left the likes of Sergio Reguilon and Bryan Gil back at home in North London to sort out their futures, but those two aren’t the only ones who could leave the club this summer.

A report has now emerged detailing the future of another Tottenham player, who is currently with the squad in Japan.

The latest on Emerson Royal’s Tottenham future as AC Milan make decision

Emerson Royal wants to leave Tottenham this summer.

The Brazil international fell below Pedro Porro in the pecking order in the 2023/24 season, and it doesn’t look like that will change in the upcoming campaign.

Emerson has publicly claimed that he is unhappy with the game time he has received under Ange Postecoglou, and he has been heavily linked with a move away from the club since.

AC Milan have been chasing Emerson for over a month now.

The Serie A giants have been trying to sign the right-back, but their efforts have fallen short of Daniel Levy’s demands. Tottenham had already rejected a bid for Emerson from Milan too

However, Milan News have now revealed that a deal could be struck soon.

The report claims that Emerson is now ‘increasingly close’ to leaving Tottenham and joining AC Milan in the coming days.

It has been revealed that Milan have decided to ‘satisfy the requests of Spurs or at least get closer’, and the player’s dream move could finally materialise now.

Tottenham may not need a replacement for Emerson

Emerson has come under a lot of criticism during his time at Tottenham, but he always gave it his all. Postecoglou even branded his work ethic as ‘unbelievable’ (Sky Sports).

A move away this summer is the best thing for all parties involved – Spurs will get decent money and Emerson will get to play in the Champions League next season if he goes to Milan.

Porro will remain Tottenham’s first-choice right back, and many have been wondering if Postecoglou will sign a replacement for Emerson if he leaves.

However, we don’t think Spurs need to replace the Brazilian.

Tottenham have Archie Gray who can play at right-back, while Djed Spence may have saved his Spurs career with his performance in pre-season.

Those two players are more than capable of acting as Porro’s deputies, which is good news for Tottenham as they can now use the money they get from Emerson’s sale to strengthen other areas of their pitch.
