Tottenham Hotspur will hope to use their League Cup win over Coventry City as a springboard to kickstart their season.

Spurs have won just one of their four Premier League games so far and were close to suffering a shock defeat to the Championship side on Wednesday.

However, Tottenham scored twice late on to edge into the fourth round of the competition at the Sky Blues’ expense.

While it was a relief for Spurs to avoid an embarrassing third-round knockout, Dominic Solanke went another game without getting on the scoresheet.

The £65million summer signing is yet to get off the mark for Tottenham, having played three games so far for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Now, GiveMeSport have reported that Spurs insiders are saying about Solanke, and what they have in store for him.

Tottenham working on different patterns of play to help Dominic Solanke

According to GMS, Spurs are confident that they made the right choice in signing Solanke, and they believe the upcoming run of games will prove that he was a good acquisition.

Tottenham have reportedly been working on different patterns of play during training sessions, as there is a belief that Solanke will be lethal in front of goal once he gets improved service.

Tottenham are due to face FK Qarabag, Manchester United and Ferencvaros after seeing out the game against Brentford this weekend.

GMS sources believe this run of fixtures has been pinpointed as an ideal opportunity for Solanke to build confidence and relieve some of the pressure on his shoulders.

In addition, Postecoglou is reported to have pushed for the 27-year-old as he believes the striker has the work-rate needed to succeed in his system.

Way too early to pass judgement on Solanke

Solanke has played just three games for Tottenham. In one, he was finding his feet, and in the other two – which came after he recovered from injury – he worked hard and did well, but was starved of service.

That’s a laughable amount of games upon which to pass judgement on a new player, not to mention he hasn’t exactly done badly. He just hasn’t got on the scoresheet yet.

Kai Havertz needed a little while to get up to speed at Arsenal, but once things clicked for him, there was no looking back. The same will hopefully ring true for Solanke too.
