The summer transfer window slammed shut more than three weeks ago but Arsenal are already looking to fine-tune their squad with one eye on the future.

While the Gunners have quality across the pitch, it is their backline that is quite stacked at the moment, with Riccardo Calafiori’s arrival further bolstering a fantastic unit.

With William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Ben White, and Jurrien Timber hailed as Mikel Arteta’s go-to options and Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko also in the mix, one Arsenal player’s future remains uncertain.

Takehiro Tomiyasu has struggled with injuries in recent months and if reports are to be believed, Arsenal are weighing up the possibility of offloading him in the upcoming transfer windows.

According to Caught Offside, Tomiyasu’s injury woes have emerged as a bit of a problem for the Gunners, who are already well-stacked in that position.

The Japanese international has always played well when called upon and signed a new contract earlier this year, but his fitness problems coupled with the fact that he has slipped down the pecking has put Arsenal in a precarious position.

Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli are interested in signing Tomiyasu, although the report states that a sale is more likely in the summer than in January.

Arsenal could do without Tomiyasu

The Gunners faithful will be divided by the prospect of losing the 25-year-old, who has largely made a good impression at the club since joining from Bologna.

However, Arsenal have too many quality players at the back and Tomiyasu would be best advised to secure a transfer to get regular game time under his belt.

Arteta previously said he loves Tomiyasu but is unlikely to stand in his way if a suitable offer arrives in the coming months.
