Liverpool sensation Rio Ngumoha has taken to social media to celebrate becoming the club’s youngest-ever starter in their 4-0 FA Cup win over Accrington Stanley on Saturday (January 11).

At 16 years, four months, and 13 days, Ngumoha made history as Arne Slot’s side progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup after their comfortable win over local minnows Accrington Stanley.

Ngumoha, who joined from Chelsea in the summer, ended the game having completed three dribbles, the most from any player, had an 89 per cent pass accuracy rate, and five touches in the opposition box before being substituted in the 72nd minute.

Diogo Jota opened the scoring for the home side in the 29th minute before Trent Alexander-Arnold doubled their lead just before half-time.

Jayden Danns, the fellow Liverpool academy star and replacement for Ngumoha then made is 3-0 before Federico Chiesa scored his first goal for the club since joining in the summer.

Ngumoha is highly regarded, starting nine of his 14 games at both youth and senior level, scoring zero goals, and providing four assists in his 899 minutes of action.

The wonderkid took to Instagram after his first start, sharing an image originally posted by Liverpool’s official account confirming him as their youngest-ever starter.

Ngumoha left Chelsea because he didn’t believe there was a ‘clear pathway’ into the first-team and it appears Liverpool was the right move.

Liverpool will host Nottingham Forest on Tuesday (January 14) as they seek to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table.
