Napoli‘s head coach, Antonio Conte, runs a tight regime when it comes to his players nutrition with specific members of staff on the payroll to monitor the diet of their players.

McTominay is getting extra close attention after arriving from Manchester United last month.

According to Il Mattino, per Calcio Napoli, the 2022/23 Serie A winners are keen to ensure that he avoids the ‘Neapolitan culinary luxuries’ including pizza, pasta and dairy.

Doing so is unlikely to be a problem for McTominay, who prides himself on his physical conditioning being among his top attributes.

The midfielder was among the fittest players at Old Trafford, regularly ranking among the top players in Man United’s squad when it came to fitness tests.

His former Man United teammate – Fulham star Andreas Pereira – even came up with the brilliant nickname of ‘The McTerminator’ due to his ripped physique.

While his diet will be monitored, there’s no questioning McTominay’s early impact with Napoli.

Having joined for a fee of £25million from Man United the midfielder has made an immediate impression.

McTominay made his full debut in the 0-0 draw against Juventus, with fans noting his typically determined and hardworking display.

Italian outlet Calcio Mercato even claimed that the Scotland international was Napoli’s ‘next idol’, comparing him to the likes of Diego Maradona and Edinson Cavani.

McTominay wasn’t the only player brought in this summer, with Conte also signing Billy Gilmour, Romelu Lukaku, David Neres and Leonardo Spinazzola.

Having graduated from Man United’s academy, the £25million will go down as ‘pure profit’ in terms of profit and sustainability rules.

McTominay made 255 appearances in total for the Red Devils, scoring 29 goals in the process with ten of those coming last season.
