Cole Palmer once again got himself in the headlines this weekend as he produced another Chelsea masterclass, scoring four in a win over Brighton.

Palmer has been one of the standout players in the entire league for some time now and after a stunning debut Chelsea season last year, all eyes were on him to reproduce this term.

However, while some may have doubted him, Palmer has arguably got better and his performance this weekend was breathtaking.

And after Palmer was compared to Dennis Bergkamp over the weekend, Micah Richards has now picked out what he believes is the unique selling point for Palmer.

Micah Richards says what Cole Palmer has above everyone else

Speaking on the latest episode of the Rest Is Football podcast, Richards believes that Palmer’s versatility marks him out as being better than a lot of his competition.

"Cole Palmer can play on the right and in central areas. Joleon (Lescott) mentioned about playing deep. He can play anywhere,” Richards said.

“And I think that's what separates him from the rest. I think he can have an effect on the game from whatever position he is playing."

Palmer for England?

While England have some fine players in the attacking positions and the likes of Bukayo Saka and Jude Bellingham aren’t getting dropped, there just has to be a place for Cole Palmer.

Palmer is showing again and again just how good he is and the fact that he somehow looks better this season than last is quite frightening.

For England and interim boss Lee Carsley, it’s a case of finding a place in the starting XI for him now.

Failure to play him in the next round of international games will no doubt result in serious uproar from the Three Lions fans.
