'Should be ashamed': Tim Sherwood says he's heard something 'disgraceful' from Tottenham fans recently
Today at 05:45 AM
Tottenham Hotspur made a serious statement at the weekend with a 4-0 win against Manchester City.
Spurs picked up arguably their greatest win of the Premier League era on Saturday as they dismantled the champions in their own backyard.
Tottenham were 10th in the table coming off the back of a loss against Ipswich in this game, and it's fair to say nobody saw this coming.
Ange Postecoglou was being questioned heading into this game too.
Indeed, while Tottenham sources maintained that Postecoglou was safe at Spurs, fans online were beginning to call for his head after the slow start to the season.
Speaking on The Weekend Wrap, Tim Sherwood has been discussing the anti-Ange sentiment that had been brewing at Tottenham, and he says that any Spurs fans who wanted Postecoglou out should've been ashamed of themselves.

Tim Sherwood fires back at Tottenham fans
Sherwood addressed the Tottenham supporters.
Sherwood says that any fans who were calling for Postecoglou's head should be ashamed, stating that it's a disgrace that anyone had that view.
"Tottenham it's not all bad. I listen to fans questioning Ange Postecoglou. 50% want him out, 50% want him in, they should be ashamed of themselves. This is the right man for the job, a top-draw manager trying something different, let him get on with it. It's disgraceful some of them questioning him before, it's a disgrace," Sherwood said.
Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham record compared to Tim Sherwood
It's interesting that Sherwood is the one coming out to bat for Postecoglou, because he's been in a very similar situation at Tottenham.
Indeed, once upon a time, Sherwood was the Spurs manager, and he was sacked despite actually having a better record than Postecoglou this season.
Tim Sherwood league record at Tottenham | Ange Postecoglou this season | |
Games | 22 | 12 |
Wins | 13 | 6 |
Draws | 3 | 1 |
Losses | 6 | 5 |
Win percentage | 59% | 50% |
Yes, the win against Manchester City showcased Postecoglou at his best, but the loss to Ipswich highlighted all of his flaws too.
It's remiss to pretend that everything is going swimmingly at Spurs due to one result. Tottenham are still only sixth in the table, and that's the exact position Sherwood had Spurs in when he was sacked.
If Tottenham can kick on from now, all the questions about Postecoglou will be put to bed, but, at the moment, the Man City win is simply a bright point in what has been a rather underwhelming season so far for Spurs.
Next weekend's game against Fulham will tell us a lot about this Tottenham team.
