Stefan Borson: Chelsea could pay '£13m' to terminate Sancho deal

Jadon Sancho could be heading back to Manchester United after he's failed to pull up any trees for Chelsea this season.
The England international joined the London giants on loan last summer, with a £25million obligation-to-buy clause included in the deal.
However, Chelsea can pay a fee to cancel the deal if they wish after the 24-year-old winger has registered two goals and six assists in 28 appearances this season.
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider that fee could be as much as £13million.
Football Insider revealed on 19 March Man United are unlikely to be open to Sancho returning at the end of this season.
Sources say Chelsea are certain to sign Sancho if they qualify for next season's Champions League.
Enzo Maresca's side currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, one point above fifth-place Man City after 29 matches.
Chelsea to agree Jadon Sancho deal
Borson believes Chelsea are still likely to sign Sancho after he's featured heavily this season.
He told Football Insider: "In the business world, in takeovers, it’s often known as a break fee.
"It’s pretty common in transactions that need regulatory approval that you would have a fee that needs to be paid by one side in the event the deal can’t happen for whatever reason.
"It can be 10 per cent of deal size, it can be more. It can be a very meaningful penalty that one side has to pay to the other in cash if the deal doesn’t happen. We haven’t seen it very often in these sorts of deals and it is a surprise that it exists if it does exist.
"We know from Sir Jim Ratcliffe's interview that United are paying 50 per cent of his wages for this season. Now 50 per cent of Sancho’s wages is probably £160,000 a week, so maybe £8million?
"I would think that the penalty for not doing the deal would be something in the order of that half of the salary for starters, so the £8million that United have subsidised for this season is coming back to United.
"I would then think on top of that there’s probably another £5million, so it could easily be £13million to not do the deal. It’s going to be big because the whole point in it is that it’s a kind of doomsday scenario, where the player has been so bad that you just don’t want to buy him even for £25million.
"I think any break fee would be very high and would have those two components. I still think it’s likely that Chelsea sign him as he’s still playing for all of the noise around this. It’s not the best message to give out.
"I don’t know how that’s come out, but it does seem to be true. The sorts of people who are reporting it are people who are generally quite close to Chelsea, so it does seem to have some credibility to the story.
"But I still think it would be more likely that they’ll do the deal."

Chelsea tempted to sell Enzo Fernandez to Real Madrid
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football InsiderEnzo Fernandez is wanted by Real Madrid as they look to bolster their midfield options.
The Argentina international has made 35 appearances so far this season, registering five goals and nine assists.
However, a significant offer from Real Madrid could tempt Stamford Bridge chiefs into selling as they look to balance the books.
