'Theoretical low cost' of Wolves player may not fit with reality – Regardless of Mendes link

Barcelona see Wolverhampton's Wanderers Hugo Bueno as a 'theoretical low cost' option to solve their problem at left-back, but that may not fit with reality.

Fichajes report that Barcelona are determined to improve their options at left-back in the coming months and have set their sights on the Wolves man.

He's currently making a positive impression on loan at Feyenoord and is seen by Wolves at the 'more affordable' option for Barcelona behind the more costly Alphonso Davies.

The belief is that he has a 'theoretical low cost' of €6m, while the fact that he's represented by Jorge Mendes, who has an excellent relationship with Joan Laporta, would also be a major plus point for Barcelona.

However, all of this seems rather optimistic on Barcelona's part even with that link to Mendes to help them.

For a start, there's no reason for Wolves to sell Bueno for such a low fee when he's already probably worth more than that and could be worth considerably more in future if he continues on his current path.

That would be bad management on their part, particularly given Bueno is tied to a deal until 2028 so there's no pressing need to accept a low price either.

Instead, this feels like a Barcelona based assumption that they can simply cherry pluck players from smaller clubs at whatever price they like, which will not be the case if they want to step up their apparent interest in Bueno.
