West Ham technical director Tim Steidten is under review by the club’s hierarchy after internal and external developments were reported by The Guardian.

According to Jacob Steinberg the Hammers have now agreed a deal to reunite new boss Graham Potter with Chelsea staff member Kyle Macaulay, contributing to Steidten’s increasingly precarious position at the London Stadium since Julen Lopetegui was sacked.

The German has seen his influence at the East London club decrease in the past month, with analyst Max Hahn understood to have taken on a more prominent role in that time.

Irons bosses are now considering Steidten’s position with the club 14th in the table despite heavy summer recruitment that has been criticised by fans.

Chelsea wanted £1.5million to let Macaulay go but the two sides have worked out an incentivised agreement.

West Ham will be hoping for transfer market success

The hope is that by combining the pair of Macaulay and Potter, West Ham can yield similar results in the transfer market.

An outlay of £120million in the Summer of 2024 [transfermarkt], has yielded little as far as on pitch success is concerned in East London.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been the best of a bad bunch, that also includes Niclas Fullkrug, Crysencio Summerville and Luis Guilherme, all of whom have been injured and underwhelming.

Although Macaulay has not been brought in to be the direct replacement for Steidten, it is clear that the Scottish former Chelsea man is being recruited as a result of the German’s failings.

He secured a major success two summers ago with the arrival of Mohammed Kudus from Ajax, but last year’s recruitment drive after Lopetegui’s arrival has fallen flat.

The Spaniard has already paid with this job and Steidten could now soon follow.

In other news, West Ham are making a move for Aston Villa’s star man this January.
