Tottenham Hotspur are set to face Brentford nextin the top-flight, and the Premier League has now announced the referee.

Ange Postecoglou has a big job on his hands after a disappointing start to the season, with just four points from Tottenham‘s opening four games.

Next up for Spurs in the Premier League is a clash with Brentford at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

The Bees are two points better off with two wins and two losses, though they recently lost Yoane Wissa to injury so there’s no better time for Spurs to play them.

However, Bryan Mbuemo is the man in form with three goals already at this stage.

The referee has been officially announced for this weekend and it’s safe to say that Ange Postecoglou will have recent memories of him…

John Brooks appointed as the referee for Tottenham vs Brentford in the Premier League

John Brooks is yet to referee in the Premier League this season, but he does have one game to his name in the Championship.

According to the Premier League, John Brooks will be the man in the middle for Spurs vs Brentford at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

Brooks’ assistants will be Simon Bennett, Dan Robathan. The fourth official will be Oli Langford, and on VAR will be Alex Chilowicz and his assistant Darren Cann.

Yves Bissouma was sent off for an embarrassing dive last season against Luton Town, which resulted in him receiving his marching orders from John Brooks.

Ange Postecoglou was spotted seething (as per Football London) after the decision by John Brooks was made.

Interestingly, there has already been some controversy with Spurs this season regarding a penalty shout during their clash with Newcastle, as Radu Dragusin was slightly lucky not to give away a penalty.

Brentford benefitted from a refereeing decision against Crystal Palace earlier in the season as Eberechi Eze’s goal from a free-kick wasn’t even looked at because the referee had already blown his whistle.

John Brooks’ refereeing stats involving Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford

John Brooks has refereed more games involving Brentford than any other club in English football.

The Bees have appeared 14 times in a game officiated by the Englishman, of which they’ve won eight, lost three and drawn three.

He hasn’t refereed Brentford since the 2022-2023 season when they beat Manchester City 1-0.

In terms of Tottenham, Brooks has been appointed in seven of their games in his career.

The Lilywhites have won three, lost two and drawn two, with the most recent encounter coming in the 1-1 Premier League draw with West Ham last season.
