In September 2023, Tottenham Hotspur reached an agreement with Hajduk Spilt for Luka Vušković to arrive at the north London club in the summer of 2025.

Hajduk Spilt loaned him out to Radomiak Radom in January before letting the centre-back join KVC Westerlo on another temporary deal in the summer window.

The future Tottenham player has impressed for the Belgian club, in defence and attack. He managed four goals and an assist from 10 games and scored the winner for Croatia U21 in their 3-2 win over Greece earlier this week.

Saturday’s edition of Gazet van Antwerpen insists the 17-year-old is a ‘super talent’ and ‘miles ahead’ of other youngsters from his age group.

The young defender made it to the UEFA Youth League final with Hajduk Split during the 2022/23 season. They lost the final to AZ Alkmaar, and he played the full 90 minutes.  Former scout Bart Tamsyn, who now works for Transfermarkt, remembers the youngster from this fixture.

“I watched that match via WyScout and was immediately captivated. At kick-off he immediately got the ball and during the game he kept ticking off qualities that every scout looks for in the Jupiler Pro League,” he said.

Croatian journalist Ižak Ante Sučić says the teenager was expected to make a big move before making his senior debut and Tottenham agreeing a deal.

“Even before his first game in the first team of Hajduk Split, it was already said that he would be the biggest transfer in the club’s history,” Ižak Ante Sučić explained.

The Jupiler Pro League side are included in the list, and this is revealed by their technical director, Francesco Carratta. He says they had the Croatia U21 international on their radar for long.

“His name had also been recorded with us for more than two years. We saw him at work during a trip abroad. The first thing I noticed was his presence and physical preparedness. But it soon became apparent that it was not financially feasible for us,” he said.

Gazet van Antwerpen immediately mention Tottenham won the race for his signature for €11m. Carratta and Westerlo should be pleased that they have managed to sign Vušković on loan this season.
