Tottenham star Guglielmo Vicario has admitted his move to the club achieved a lifelong dream for him and fuelled the achievement of his dreams with Italy.

Tuttomercatoweb cover comments from the goalkeeper today to Vivo Azzurro TV in which dreams appeared to be the focus of the discussion.

Vicario joined Tottenham in an €18.5m deal last summer as the long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris and is now the undisputed number one at the club.

He's proven to be a smart purchase for Ange Postecoglou's side, establishing himself as a key player under the Australian coach and the system he has employed.

He's earned that status with a series of impressive performances in his 47 appearances to date, which have seen him keep 11 clean sheets in all competitions.

Unfortunately for the 27-year-old his new status with Tottenham has not led to him being first-choice with Italy, where he remains behind Gianluigi Donnarumma.

He's so far only managed two caps to date, playing 90 minutes in friendly wins over Ecuador and Türkiye     earlier this year.

It seems he's not concerned about that, though, as he's focused on making it to the next World Cup and fulfilling his dream of working with Gianluigi Buffon.

“It (his career) started from the bottom, from the inter-regional level," he said.

"I embarked on a path that gave me the opportunity to slowly climb all the steps, reaching Serie A. The transfer to the Premier League was the fulfilment of a dream: I decided to face a different life and cultural challenge, leaving what was my comfort zone.

“As a child I went to bed wearing Buffon’s shirt, having him with us every day is an emotion that is hard to describe.

"The national team is the dream you grow up with as a child, it’s wonderful to travel around Europe and the world with the Italian championship on my chest. I hope to continue to be part of this group and participate in the 2026 World Cup.”
