Transfer Guru: Arsenal scouts regularly watching Vlahovic

Arsenal scouts have been in attendance at a number of Juventus games this season as they keep close tabs on the progress of Dusan Vlahovic.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that scouts are putting together a package to present to Mikel Arteta.

This comes after Football Insider first revealed in October that the 24-year-old is the Gunners’ number-one priority for next summer’s transfer window.

Having missed out on his signing in 2021, when he turned down a move to the Emirates in favour of remaining in Italy, the striker has remained highly thought of at Arsenal.

Brown, meanwhile, has insisted Arteta’s side are in need of a goalscoring striker as they currently lack a natural threat in the centre-forward position.

Despite Kai Havertz’s early-season form, which has tailed off in recent weeks, the position remains a priority and scouts have already begun work on a deal.

Brown told Football Insider in October that Arsenal will prioritise a move to sign a new striker in the January transfer window as they look to improve their squad.

Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that Vlahovic remains very highly rated by Arsenal, who could now make a move.

“He’s certainly very highly thought of at Arsenal,” he told Football Insider.

“I’m told they’ve had scouts in attendance at a few of his games this season because they want to have up-to-date assessments of his performances.

“Then, you combine that with the data from the computers to put together a package, which will then be presented to Mikel Arteta.

“His goalscoring record at Juventus has been very impressive, and he’s a player Arsenal have been looking at for a while.

“Eventually, they’ll make a decision backed up by their scouts about whether he’s right for them.

“The way Arsenal play, you need to sign the right striker to fit their style because otherwise they’ll struggle.

“But they are in need of an out-and-out goalscorer who can guarantee them goals.

“That’s what they’re lacking at the moment and that’s what he would bring.

“So I’d expect, if they like what they see, Arsenal will make a move to sign him either in January or the summer because that position is a priority for them.”
