A couple of Tottenham players have seemingly taken the north London derby defeat very badly.

Every single one of Ange Postecoglou’s squad will presumably be devastated after losing a second successive north London derby on N17 soil – although two have done something quite drastic in the aftermath of the result.

So, what has happened within the Tottenham squad after the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal? Let’s take a look…

Cristian Romero and Brennan Johnson cause a stir

In an age of media trained robots, social media is primarily the only outlet in which footballers genuinely express their emotions.

On that note, Cristian Romero and Brennan Johnson have now given a very strong indication of how they feel.

Firstly, Romero retweeted an interesting claim from Argentinian journalist Gaston Edul on X (previously known as Twitter) – which suggested that the international players at Spurs were left “feverish” after having to arrange their own travel back from international duty, which gave Arsenal added rest days.

The Tottenham No.17 has since undone his retweet of that post, but the mere fact he echoed Edul’s sentiment suggests it was accurate, and reinforces the notion that the Argentina international was annoyed by that development.

Then, Johnson simply deleted his entire Instagram account altogether, after receiving widespread criticism for his performance against Arsenal.

Jamie O’Hara was one prominent pundit to take aim at Johnson, accusing the Wales international of “hiding” from the ball in Sunday’s north London derby.

Ange Postecoglou has made things worse at Tottenham

Both of these situations have rubbed salt in the open wound that is the north London derby defeat, and not only that, but Postecoglou has arguably made things more difficult with his comments after full-time.

In case you missed it, Postecoglou boldly claimed that he “always” wins something in his second season at a club, putting huge pressure on both himself and his players to now deliver on that sentiment.

That could potentially give Spurs the rocket up the backside they so desperately need, but it could also make the likes of Johnson shrink even more.
