"Very eager to come here" – Diego Carlos on what and who persuaded him over Aston Villa exit

Diego Carlos has admitted he was very eager to head to Turkey and join Fenerbahce, explaining why he made the move from Aston Villa.
Sports Digitale cover comments from the 31-year-old defender after he joined Fenerbahce earlier this week.
The centre-back has joined the Turkish side on a €10m deal, bringing an end to a three-year spell at Villa Park.
He joined Aston Villa in a €31m deal in 2022 after impressing at Sevilla but was never really able to replicate that in Birmingham, with an Achilles tendon rupture in August 2022 the most significant of those.
He's returned from that in March 2023 but has struggled to establish himself under Unai Emery since, with the likes of Ezri Konsa, Pau Torres and Tyrone Mings in front of him in the pecking order.
He'll be hoping to get back on track with his new club, where he is expected to be a regular under José Mourinho.
He's now explained why he's made the move, revealing that he's done his research on his new club ahead of the move from Aston Villa being finalised.
"The transfer process was very fast," he said.
"I had the opportunity to talk to many people before coming here. I talked to people I know who played in this club and in this league before.
"Of course, I had the honour of playing with En-Nesyri before. I talked to him before coming here. I also talked to Fred because he is Brazilian. Before coming here, they told me how beautiful the league, the club, the city is. That made me very eager to come here."
