"Wasn't an option" – Player admits he turned down Manchester United, didn't want to sit on the bench

Switzerland goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo has revealed he turned down Manchester United in the summer, as he didn't want to sit on the bench.
Blick have an interview with the 30-year-old goalkeeper this week, in which they discuss his current status and the offers he had in the summer.
The goalkeeper looked likely to be on the move in the summer after his current club, FC Lorient, were relegated to Ligue 2.
He was certainly linked with plenty of clubs across the summer transfer window, although Manchester United were not one of them.
That makes sense given they spent big on their goalkeeping department last summer, first signing Andre Onana as their new number one before then adding Altay Bayindir to the squad to act as his deputy.
They, therefore, don't particularly need a reinforcement in that area, even with Onana struggling somewhat last season and Bayindir seemingly unhappy with the lack of minutes he managed under Erik ten Hag.
Mvogo says differently, though, claiming Manchester United made him a proposal which he refused outright.
"I wanted to leave Lorient after relegation so that I could continue to compete and prove myself at the highest possible level. I knew it could be problematic if I played in the second division," he said.
"There were a lot of offers. They all came relatively early. At this point I wanted to take some time with the decision.
"I had no idea how difficult the market would be during the summer. Many clubs then wanted free transfer goalies or those who could be borrowed. But I had a contract with Lorient, so a transfer fee would have been due.
"Correct, Manchester United for example (wanted him as number two). But that wasn’t an option for me. I’m not happy if I can’t stand on the pitch. I currently want to enjoy my time on the field, together with fans and teammates. I want to play for titles and ideally win them."
