Darwin Nunez was the hero of the hour for Liverpool as they crept past Brentford to go seven points clear at the top of the Premier League.
With the game heading towards a 0-0 draw, Nunez came off the bench to silence the critics and score twice in injury time to give Arne Slot a huge boost.
The three points for Liverpool immediately put Arsenal under more pressure this evening and for Arne Slot, it gives him something to really build on with Nunez.
Slot spoke in the week how he had struggled to get Nunez going so far but now, with two goals and a huge moment under his belt, the big striker might well find his feet.
And judging by the reaction of the Liverpool bench, it seems Nunez is very much a loved figure.

Commenting on the game for Sky Sports, reporter Oliver Yew spotted what the Liverpool bench did when Nunez tucked his first goal away and it’s safe to say the celebrations were huge for the Uruguayan.
“Wow! There are jackets being thrown in the air on the Liverpool bench. What a moment for Nunez. The Liverpool fans are singing his name,” Yew wrote.
“He was in the right place at the right time.”
Can Darwin Nunez be like a new signing for Liverpool?
With January a hard window to do business in and Liverpool ever-reliant on Mo Salah to get them out of trouble, it’s vital other players chip in.
Getting Darwin Nunez back among the goals is massive for Liverpool and he might well end up feeling like a brand new signing.
The Reds also managed to get minutes in the tank for Federico Chiesa and having both he and Nunez fit and contributing will make them hard to stop.
The title is very much within reach for Liverpool now and it seems a matter of time before Premier League crown number two is brought home.
