Bournemouth will take on Southampton tonight at the Vitality Stadium but they will be without their manager on the touchline.

The Cherries come into the game off the back of 3-0 defeat to Liverpool while the Saints are still waiting for their first win of the campaign.

Russell Martin will be desperate to get his side’s first three points, and he may fancy his chances more knowing that Andoni Iraola won't be in the opposing dugout.

Here's why the Spaniard is going to be in the stands for the south coast derby instead…

Why is Iraola not on the touchline?

Iraola is suspended for Bournemouth's clash with Southampton

He has received three yellow cards this season, which is the limit for managers.

Managers and coaches receive a ban after three yellows while players are allowed five before action is taken.

Iraola received a yellow against Newcastle in August before picking up another caution in the Carabao Cup away at West Ham.

The third then came in controversial circumstances against Liverpool last weekend.

The Cherries boss was booked by the referee for supposedly asking for a yellow card to be given to an opposing player.

However, since the incident, Iraola has explained that his actions were misunderstood but that he wasn't allowed to get the decision overturned.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Iraola said: "For me, it's disappointing but we cannot change it.

"I have received the explanation that the yellow cards, we receive the same consideration as the players.

"We cannot appeal a yellow card, which is something that doesn't happen in Spain, in Spain you can do it but here no.

"But then for red cards, we have different treatment to the players. I didn't know. Until it happens you don't really know.

"The rules here are specific to the Premier League.

"I think it was clear what happened, I asked for an offside and for VAR but they think I asked for a yellow card and it wasn't even a foul for Liverpool.

"Probably they understand why [I'm not happy] but they cannot accept any appeal for yellow cards they told me, so I will be upstairs, yes."

It will leave Martin with bigger hopes of his side getting their first win of the season

So it means Iraola will reluctantly be absent from the touchline when his side welcome rivals Southampton.

But it is set to be a thrilling clash and you can follow all the action from the Vitality on talkSPORT tonight.

We will have EXCLUSIVE coverage of the game presented by Adrian Durham.

Commentary will come from Sam Matterface and former England midfielder Danny Murphy
