Everton's former chief Keith Wyness has revealed RC Lens centre-back Kevin Danso is in advanced talks to join Wolves this month.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – also claimed Jorge Mendes is likely to help the Molineux club make crucial signings by resurrecting their partnership in this window.

Danso, 26, has been identified as a top target at Wolves with Lens willing to let the Austria international go in order to balance the books.

Football Insider revealed last month (25 December) that the French club could even accept a loan offer for the centre-back.

That deal could incorporate an obligation to buy, which may become active if the club remain in the Premier League.

Wolves have picked up seven points from three games under new boss Vitor Pereira and sit 17th in the table.

Wolves tipped to agree Danso deal and work with Mendes on more signings

Wyness told Football Insider's Insider Track podcast: "Our favourite agent, Mendes, wants to get back involved in Wolves.

"We could see him help them out in some way.

"Aside from that, there are lots of rumours about Kevin Danso coming in from Wolves.

"He seems to be the one, and talks are actually a little bit further on than we've been led to believe in the media so far.

"He's the red-hot favourite to come in, because defence is the area they'll be looking.

"Let's wait and see what else they can do."
