'Would smooth the way': Sky Sports journalist shares what he's heard about Man United and Nkunku today

Manchester United are currently in pursuit of attacking reinforcements and Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku is a player of interest.
TBR Football previously revealed that talks between Manchester United and Chelsea have taken place involving Nkunku and Alejandro Garnacho.
Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg then claimed that Manchester United have now 'seriously entered the race' to sign Nkunku.
Plettenberg also said Nkunku and Garnacho are even being considered as part of a swap deal between Manchester United and Chelsea.
Now, Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has shared the latest on Nkunku and Man United.
While there is a problem for the Red Devils on this front, Sheth shared what could happen to “smooth the way” for Nkunku to join the Red Devils.
Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea would ‘smooth the way’ for Christopher Nkunku to join Manchester United
Sheth, speaking on the Transfer Talk podcast, admitted that Man United have “no chance” of signing Nkunku permanently this month.
The Red Devils are currently only considering a loan because a permanent move would cost them too much money, said Sheth.
However, if Man United managed to sell Garnacho to Chelsea, it would smooth the way for Nkunku to join the Red Devils.
At the same time, Sheth acknowledged this is a “big if”, while Bayern Munich are also circling around the Frenchman.
“Manchester United have looked into the possibility of a deal for Christopher Nkunku, but there would only be a loan,” said Sheth.
“They’ve got no chance of doing a permanent deal for Nkunku. It will cost them too much money.
“But clearly, if United – and it’s a big if – did business with Chelsea for [Alejandro] Garnacho, they’ll already be talking then.
“And it would smooth the way for Nkunku to maybe make a move on loan to Old Trafford.
“But Nkunku is interested in Bayern Munich as well, and they maybe have a player in Mathys Tel that Chelsea could be interested in.”
Nkunku’s stance towards Man United loan
Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that, while Nkunku "could be open" to joining Man United, he's only keen to do so if he's on their books next season.
Nkunku is interested in either a loan with obligation to buy or a permanent move, according to Romano.
"My understanding is that Christopher Nkunku is not that open, at the moment, to a straight loan," said Romano.
"So when you see reports on Nkunku going on loan to Man United, if it's a loan with obligation, a permanent transfer, Christopher Nkunku could be open.
"If it's a straight loan or not guaranteed obligation then at this moment in time, not sure this deal could happen.
