John Marquis gave Shrewsbury the lead after just 17 minutes before former Premier League striker Steven Fletcher equalised just six minutes later.
Shrewsbury then scored the winner just after the break, through Marquis again, earning a valuable three points for the relegation-threatened side.
Wrexham now sit in third, two points off Birmingham City in the race for promotion to the Championship with 51 from their 26 games.
