According to a claim in the Danish media, Wycombe Wanderers are closing in on their next manager.

After guiding Wycombe to second in League One, Matt Bloomfield left just over a week ago to take the vacant role at Luton Town. Sam Grace is currently in place as their caretaker manager.

Tipsbladet have reported on the latest developments regarding the English club's pursuit for a new manager and they say Wycombe are targeting Randers' head coach Rasmus Bertelsen.

It's claimed the League One side made contact with the 41-year-old to take the vacant role left by Bloomfield, and the Dane insisted that if there was any move, his current assistant at Randers, Fatah Abdirahman, would move with him to England.

After the recent purchases of Anders Hagelskjær and Magnus Westergaard, it seems Wycombe have been looking to appoint a Danish coach.

On the matter, Tipsbladet quote Rasmus Bertelsen as saying: “There is and has been interest from various places, but it is important for me to emphasise that I am happy to be in Randers, and that it is not in the cards for me to leave the club in the short term.”

Randers director Søren Pedersen gave his side of the story: From my chair, it’s a big pat on the back. We are happy that other clubs are interested in our employees, because it is a sign that Randers and Rasmus have done well. But Rasmus is not going away.”

Bertelsen was installed as Randers manager in March 2023 and recently signed a contract extension with the Danish SuperLiga club until June 2028.
