Hey look! It's (finally) another striker!

For the entirety of the first half of the 2024-25 season, Juventus have relied on Dusan Vlahovic to play from the start in just about every game he's been available for. And in the handful of games that Vlahovic has missed due to injury, Thiago Motta has been forced to try and find some sort of makeshift solution, playing just about every other attacking player he has as a false nine in some point in time.

But now, as we sit here about to hit the last week of January, another healthy striker has finally arrived.

It's very much a short-term option to what has been a season-long problem to dte, but at the very least it is an option that Motta can turn to.

Juventus announced Thursday that they have (finally) signed French striker Randal Kolo Muani on loan for the second half of the season from Paris Saint-Germain. As Arek Milik continues to be unavailable for any sort of role because of injury and Vlahovic's form is up and down when he is healthy and playing heavy minutes — he returned to training earlier this week, for what it's worth — Motta now has an option in Kolo Muani who, while maybe not perfect for the kind of No. 9 he wants, at least brings a different profile than the other two strikers currently on the Juventus roster.

Considering how little he has played at PSG so far this season and the extra week's worth of waiting due to his former club's inability to do proper math, he's fresh and raring to go as he himself looks to get some sort of form going again following a tough 18 months in Paris.

Juventus will reportedly pick up the entirety of Kolo Muani's remaining salary this season, with the deal only being a dry loan for the next six months and nothing much.

Here is the official details of the deal, courtesy of Juventus' press office:

Turin, 23 January 2025 – Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain FC for the temporary acquisition, until 30 June 2025, of the registration rights of the player Kolo Muani Randal has been reached for a consideration of € 1.0 million, with additional costs up to € 2.6 million.

The consideration may be increased up to a maximum of € 2.0 million over the duration of the player's contract, upon the achievement of further performance objectives.

So here you have a club in Juventus very much in need of more depth at the striker position signing a short-term option in Kolo Muani who is very much in need of some place to try and get his career back on track. While we don't know where Kolo Muani fits into Motta's plans just yet, at the very least he has a different kind of profile than what is on the roster.

Now, what version of Kolo Muani that Juventus are getting is very much one that has struggled since he signed on an initial €80 million deal from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2023. But since that big-money move to PSG, Kolo Muani has failed to replicate the 23-goal, 14-assist season (in all competitions) he had before leaving the Bundesliga.

In 54 games in all competitions since signing with PSG, Kolo Muani recorded 11 goals and seven assists. He started a little more than half of those 54 games and played a total of 2,415.

So now we get to see what Kolo Muani will bring to the table. At the very least we know that Vlahovic won't have to play every minute possible when he's available for selection.
