While he was never more than an option on the table for Barcelona, Federico Chiesa was perhaps one of the most likely of their alternatives. The Juventus winger is slipping away from them by the looks of things though.

Barcelona have spoken with Chiesa's agent Fali Ramadani about a potential deal, but never directly with Juventus, nor have they made an offer for him at any point. The 26-year-old is supposedly keen on a move, but now after an initial enquiry, Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Chiesa has given the green light to Liverpool for a move.

A deal can be done for somewhere between €12-15m, as per Matteo Moretto, while his salary would be around €4-5m per year, something which would not be an obstacle for the Reds.

While Barcelona may be able to turn their attentions to Chiesa now, they will be working from a disadvantage, as Liverpool will be able to offer a much larger financial package. Barcelona may also be able to offer him a deal, but Chiesa will face competition from Ansu Fati, Raphinha, Ferran Torres, Dani Olmo and Pau Victor for his spot too.
