Rotherham United boss Steve Evans recently confirmed that the Millers will be targeting a new striker in the January transfer window.

Rotherham United have had a far tougher time of things in League One than many expected, sitting 17th in the table with a third of the campaign already gone.

After an extensive summer recruitment drive, it was expected the Millers would fight it out for an immediate Championship return. However, that has not proven the case, and a big issue has been at the top of the pitch.

Jonson Clarke-Harris has four goals while Sam Nombe and Mallik Wilks have bagged three each.

Amid such issues, Rotherham United boss Steve Evans informed the Rotherham Advertiser earlier this week they will be looking to address this problem with a new striker signing in the January window.

With that in mind, we pick out three centre forwards the Millers should be eyeing…

Devante Cole – West Brom

Cole made a deserved move up to the Championship in the summer after netting 18 goals in 46 League One games for Barnsley last season. However, he’s played a backup role for West Brom and has made just three league appearances.

As such, while he is important cover at The Hawthorns, perhaps a winter move isn’t out of the question.

Rotherham United could do with another proven League One goalscorer and Cole could be the answer.

Niall Ennis – Stoke City

Another out-of-favour Championship striker who has found success in League One before is Niall Ennis. He earned the step up to the second-tier with Blackburn Rovers after impressing with Plymouth Argyle but he’s struggled ever since moving on from Home Park.

A drop back down to the third-tier could see him find more game time and more joy in front of goal.

Ennis is a quick striker with 28 goals and 16 assists to his name in 128 League One games and could be another realistic option for Rotherham United when January comes around.

Who is the manager of Blackpool?

Cauley Woodrow – Luton Town

Last but not least is Luton Town’s Cauley Woodrow, who has only ever been a standout in League One. As such, it could be tough to tempt him down from the Championship, but his continued lack of game time could make a deal feasible.

Woodow has 16 goals in 31 third-tier games and has been a handful in the second-tier before too, especially so at Barnsley.

He could provide much-needed support for Clarke-Harris and it seems unlikely that Luton would block an exit at the right price.
