Peterborough United and Lincoln City meet in League One this weekend in a hotly-contested clash after the international break.

Peterborough United come into this weekend’s game with Lincoln City looking to get back on track after defeat before the international break.

They recovered well from their opening day loss to Huddersfield Town, beating both Shrewsbury Town and Exeter City. However, Wrexham emerged victors at London Road last time out, winning 2-0 with former Posh star Jack Marriott on the scoresheet.

Darren Ferguson’s side will be looking to fight for promotion once again but will be doing so without star men Harrison Burrows and Ronnie Edwards after high-profile summer exits.

As for Lincoln City, they’ve started as they mean to go on with three wins from four League One games to date.

They followed up the thrashing of Mansfield Town with a narrow 1-0 win over Stevenage before the break and will be looking to tighten their grip on a play-off spot with a result against Peterborough United.

The Imps fell just short of the top six last season after a fantastic charge under Michael Skubala and will be determined to avoid such heartbreak this year.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

James Ray

“As per usual, Peterborough United boast a squad with some seriously talented players. On any given day, Posh are capable of blowing a League One side out of the water, especially at London Road.

“It just hasn’t happened for them yet though with two defeats at home. They have been against tough opponents, and Lincoln City are another, so it could be another challenging game for Ferguson and co.

“Skubala is doing an increasingly impressive job at Sincil Bank and with a bit of needle in this fixture, they’ll be right up for the fight. Their strong form on the road could come in handy, giving them the upper hand.

“I’ll go for a narrow away win, but this is sure to be a feisty one.”

Peterborough United will be hoping to claw themselves out of League One this season. They have lost in the play-offs in both of the last two years.

“The Posh won 2-1 away at Exeter City in their last outing before the international break and will take confidence from that win. They will be in for a tough game this weekend though.

Lincoln City narrowly missed out on the top six last term but have been a handful ever since Michael Skubala took over.

“The Imps have won both of their away outings so far in this campaign and seem to like playing away from home. I think they’ll get a result at London Road but only a draw.”

Prediction: Peterborough United 2-2 Lincoln City
