Birmingham City striker Jay Stansfield has withdrawn from England Under-21 duties, as per BBC Sport.

Birmingham City will now assess the player over the international break. BCFC are back in action next weekend with a home clash against Shrewsbury Town.

Stansfield, 22, made the permanent move to the Blues last summer and has since scored 21 goals in 35 games in all competitions for the Midlands outfit this season, 16 of which have come in the league. He is under contract until the summer of June 2031.

As per BBC Sport, he has left England Under-21’s camp due to ‘knocks’ and was deemed unfit to feature for the young Three Lions side. He has now gone back to St Andrew’s.

Chris Davies’ side are sat top of the League One table as they close in on an immediate promotion back to the Championship. They are 12 points clear of Wycombe Wanderers in 2nd and have a game in-hand.
